About Phil

Phil Hart is running for the Idaho Legislature to represent District 2 in the Idaho Senate. He is a successful Kootenai and Shoshone County businessman, the principal of Alpine Engineering, LLC with an office in Hayden, Idaho.  Phil is a licensed civil and structural engineer in 12 states. He loves his work but he believes that his greatest role in life is as a father. He has one daughter, Sarah.

Education and Experience

Phil Hart holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Utah (1980). He has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (1984).  Phil served for 7 years on the Remington Water District Board of Directors in Athol, Idaho, and also served as its chairman. In addition, Phil is a MSHA Certified Open-Pit Miner. He holds a private pilot’s license. His training and areas of interest and expertise are diverse and he is always on the go.

Phil Hart completed four terms in the Idaho House of Representatives from 2004-2012. He was a popular candidate for those who wanted less government intrusion into their lives. Phil authored or co-authored more than 50 bills. He sponsored or co-sponsored hundreds more. Most of his bills addressed less regulation or less government in our lives. Activities and Publications

In addition to being active in the political arena, Phil Hart is a competitor on the athletic field and in business. In sports, he has competed at the national level in cycling plus he has won 2 World Cup races at the Masters Level in Alpine ski racing. Regarding business, he owns and operates a small engineering firm, successfully offering his services in the private sector.

Phil Hart is the author of the book Constitutional Income: Do You Have Any? This is an historical accounting of the 16th Amendment and the Income Tax. Phil is also a blog writer and a contributor to many sites including  “News with Views”. He is also a YouTube personality.
